Art from utensils

This gigantic steel sculpture glistening in the afternoon sun stands tall at National Gallery of Modern Art here. It is the art work of a famous Indian artist Subodh Gupta, who has been using steel in his art for a very long time. What caught my fancy here is that it is made of steel utensils that you will find in almost every Indian household. If not as much but people still use them :)

    2. I wrote a message "here" twice today but every time I lost it :-( Thank you for visiting my blog.

Curious sculpture. Maybe the artist tried to pass a message on : look at what your utensils will end in the trash.

      Bonne journée

  4. I know very little about Subodh Gupta, but I have ran across images of his work -bicycle piece with cans specifically. Yes it is sculpture but it has that splash of assertive boldness which is more painterly than sculptural I think -a bold stroke. The coming together to become one large unified entity -turn it upside down that which comes from it is itself a million times over. There is thinking and sensitivity in this as well as eye catching shinny stainless steel 'unexpected icon'.
